Peace, Security Vital for Balochistan’s Stability: Governor Mandokhail

Quetta:Governor Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhail has stressed that the prevailing sensitive situation must be addressed with utmost seriousness, urging the government to fulfill its growing responsibility of making the province a hub of peace and harmony.
Speaking separately with newly appointed Inspector General of Police, Muhammad Tahir Khan, and Additional Chief Secretary (Home), Hamza Shafqaat, at the Governor House Quetta, Mandokhail said durable peace is essential for political and economic stability, which can only be achieved through close cooperation between the government and the people.
Welcoming IG Tahir Khan, the Governor said protection of citizens’ lives and property is the government’s foremost duty. He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to modernizing the police force and improving policing systems.
Mandokhail emphasized distinguishing between crime and terrorism, calling for tailored counter-strategies to address each. He particularly stressed increasing police patrolling in Quetta and its suburbs to curb street crimes, eliminate drug networks, and counter disruptive elements.
Highlighting the importance of highways, the Governor said all national routes must be secured and kept open, as they play a critical role in trade, agriculture, transport, and healthcare access. “Effective policing with public cooperation is vital to achieving the vision of a peaceful and prosperous Balochistan,” he added.
