US Naval Expert Says Hormuz Blockade Aimed at Economic Pressure on Iran

A US security analyst and retired Navy admiral, James Stewards, has stated that a potential blockade of the Strait of Hormuz by the United States is primarily a strategy to exert economic pressure on Iran.
In a statement, the former naval officer explained that the move is designed to weaken Iran economically without directly targeting its oil infrastructure. However, he cautioned that such an operation would be highly complex and difficult to execute.
Stewards noted that enforcing a blockade would require significant naval power and resources, adding that Iran retains multiple options for retaliation, which could escalate tensions in the region.
His remarks highlight the strategic and military challenges involved, as well as the potential risks of further escalation in an already volatile المنطقة.
