Pakistan’s Mediation Efforts in US-Iran Tensions Showing Results: Financial Times

Washington: Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to ease tensions between the United States and Iran are beginning to yield results, according to a report by the Financial Times.
The British publication praised Pakistan’s role in facilitating dialogue and attempting to de-escalate the ongoing crisis, noting that these efforts have helped move both sides closer to negotiations and reduced the risk of a wider conflict.
The report highlighted recent high-level contacts, including a conversation between Asim Munir and Donald Trump, as well as talks between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, describing them as effective diplomatic engagements.
Although the White House has not officially confirmed Pakistan’s role, the report noted that the current US-Iran standoff remains highly sensitive. It added that Pakistan’s mediation has played a significant part in preventing further escalation of conflict in the Middle East.
The Financial Times further stated that Islamabad’s efforts have created cautious optimism, with hopes emerging that tensions in the region may gradually ease.
