Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party Holds Protest in Zhob Against Skyrocketing Petroleum Prices

Zhob: The Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party staged a large, organized protest in Zhob against the recent steep and “anti-people” increase in petroleum prices. The demonstration, part of a nationwide campaign, began with a march from the party’s district secretariat and culminated in a public gathering at the Zhob Press Club, drawing a large crowd of citizens expressing their anger and frustration.
At the rally, provincial Deputy Secretary Haji Naseebullah Nasir, Maulvi Abdullah Mandokhel, and district secretary of the Pashtunkhwa Students Organization, Amir-ul-Bashar, condemned the government’s policies, describing the recent fuel price hikes as excessive, unjust, and oppressive. They argued that the surge in inflation across the country is a direct result of government incompetence, flawed economic policies, and decisions that harm ordinary citizens.
Speakers highlighted that the price increase has worsened the hardships of an already struggling public, making even basic necessities increasingly unaffordable. They criticized the ruling elite for focusing on luxuries and privileges while ignoring the needs of the people.
The protesters warned that the public would no longer tolerate injustice, inflation, and exploitation, and threatened to escalate the protest movement if the government does not reverse its “oppressive” decisions immediately.
The rally also condemned arbitrary electricity load-shedding by WAPDA and demanded its immediate cessation, alongside stronger law enforcement to tackle rising crime, theft, and insecurity. Urgent action against drug traffickers was called for to protect the youth from societal harm.
The speakers reaffirmed the party’s commitment to continue advocating for public welfare, ending inflation, and safeguarding fundamental rights, promising to remain the voice of the people on every platform.
