Federal Interior Minister Orders Digital Reforms in Passport and Immigration Services

Islamabad – Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has tasked the newly appointed Director General (DG) of Passport and Immigration, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, with implementing major reforms, including the complete digitization of the country’s passport and immigration system.
According to ARY News, the DG has been instructed to make the entire system fully paperless while prioritizing public convenience. The move is aimed at streamlining services and reducing bureaucratic hurdles for citizens.
Recently, the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports had revised the working hours of passport offices to remain open five days a week, from Monday to Friday, to facilitate the public. Previously, under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s austerity measures and amid rising tensions in the Middle East, passport offices operated only four days a week, with 50% of staff allowed to work from home to save energy.
The new directive restores the original schedule, ensuring that all field formations and passport offices operate normally from Monday to Friday. Authorities said the reforms are intended to make passport services more efficient and accessible, minimizing inconvenience for citizens.
