Major Progress in Islamabad Safe City Project as Plans Move Toward Capital Smart City

Islamabad: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has directed that the Safe City project in Islamabad be completed within the scheduled timeframe, signaling a major step toward transforming it into a Capital Smart City.
Minister Naqvi visited the Safe City headquarters in Islamabad and chaired a special meeting to review progress on Phase Two of the project. It was decided that all ongoing work under Phase Two will be completed by May 30.
The Interior Minister emphasized upgrading the Central Command and Control System in Islamabad, integrating policing, traffic, and civic service systems. He stated that the Capital Smart City will feature advanced traffic management and crime control systems, with all available resources being deployed to make Islamabad a safer city.
The meeting also approved the new design for the Safe City headquarters.
IG Islamabad Police Ali Nasir Rizvi briefed the minister, reporting that 75% of Phase Two work has been completed. Modern cameras and monitoring systems are being installed to ensure citizen safety, and 152 kilometers of fiber-optic cable have been laid. Phase Two is expected to be completed by May 20, followed by the testing phase.
The meeting was attended by Federal Secretary Interior Khurram Agha, DG FIA Dr. Usman Anwar, IG Islamabad Police Ali Nasir Rizvi, DG Safe City Haroon Joya, and other senior officials.
