Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party Slams Fuel Price Hike, Calls It “Historic Inflation Bomb

Quetta:** The central secretariat of Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party has strongly condemned the recent surge in petroleum prices, stating that an increase of nearly 75 percent within a month has shocked both the public and the international community.
In a press release, the party termed the hike a “historic inflation bomb” on over 250 million citizens and outright rejected the decision. It criticized the government for placing an additional burden on the public instead of providing relief during difficult economic conditions.
The statement compared Pakistan’s situation with Iran, claiming that despite facing war-like conditions, Iran has increased salaries and is providing oil at some of the lowest rates globally. The party argued that if mediation-related expenses have risen, the government should reconsider its role rather than passing the burden onto the people.
Highlighting economic concerns, the party said industrial and agricultural production has declined, while the trade deficit has increased by 22.65 percent over the past nine months. It also noted a 6.64 percent drop in exports, warning that the economy is nearing a critical point.
The statement further expressed concern over deteriorating law and order, rising inflation, and increasing unemployment. It alleged erosion of civilian authority, interference in politics by institutions, and restrictions on judicial and media independence, which it said are damaging the country’s reputation both domestically and internationally.
Concluding, the party vowed to continue its struggle alongside the public to restore democratic authority and ensure that power rests with the people in accordance with national and international laws.
