Adam Zampa Explains IPL Exit, Says Pay and Schedule Didn’t Match Expectations

Lahore: Australian leg-spinner Adam Zampa, currently part of Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), has revealed why he chose to leave the Indian Premier League (IPL) and join the PSL.

In an interview with a local sports platform, Zampa said that the IPL demanded a significant time commitment and that he was not being paid in line with his skills compared to other players. “The league takes up a lot of time, and the compensation didn’t match my expectations, so continuing there didn’t feel like the right decision,” he explained.

Zampa added that after leaving the IPL, he initially planned to take a break from cricket. However, he unexpectedly received an opportunity to play in the PSL, which he accepted. “Everything happened very quickly, and I’m really enjoying the experience,” he said.

The Australian spinner, who recently joined Karachi Kings, has impressed with his performances in the tournament and also praised the standard of the PSL.

He further lauded Lahore Qalandars captain Shaheen Afridi, calling him an outstanding bowler. “When he bowls, you always feel something special can happen with every delivery,” Zampa remarked.
