Supreme Court Renovation Fails First Test: Leaks Emerge After Heavy Rain

Islamabad: The lavish renovation of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, which reportedly cost over PKR 200 million, revealed serious flaws during Islamabad’s first heavy rainfall of the season.
Water began leaking through the Supreme Court’s ceilings, including rooms designated for journalists. Reporter Abdul Qayyum Siddiqui shared a video showing water entering these spaces, highlighting the project’s shortcomings and raising questions over the use of public funds.

Siddiqui asked whether Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Yahya Afridi would call responsible officials to account for the mishandling of this significant expenditure.
Social media users noted that similar issues have been observed in other major government buildings. Islamabad High Court also experienced roof leaks recently, prompting authorities to place buckets under dripping areas to manage the problem.
