Theft of Conductors from 33kV Gandawa Feeder Disrupts Power Supply in Bhag Area

Quetta: Incidents of theft targeting electrical lines and equipment have increased across various areas of Balochistan, causing not only interruptions in electricity supply but also significant financial losses for the Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO) and inconvenience for consumers.
Recently, in the Bhag region, unidentified thieves stole conductors (electric wires) from 26 poles of the 33kV Gandawa feeder. During the theft, five PCC poles were also completely damaged, resulting in a total power outage in the areas connected to the feeder.
A QESCO spokesperson stated that an initial survey and damage assessment of the 33kV Gandawa feeder have been conducted, and emergency restoration work will begin on Monday to reinstate electricity in the affected areas.
The spokesperson added that QESCO’s Lehri Subdivision has submitted a written request to the relevant police station to register an FIR and take legal action against the culprits to ensure their swift arrest.
QESCO appealed to the public to play an active role in protecting national assets, including electricity infrastructure, poles, and wires, and to report any suspicious activity or theft immediately to the QESCO helpline (118), the local subdivision, or the police. The utility also apologized to affected consumers for the power disruption caused by the theft and requested their cooperation during restoration efforts.
