“Maryam Nawaz Eidi Scheme” Claims Debunked by Punjab Government, Public Warned Against Fake Portals

Lahore: The Punjab Government has officially dismissed circulating reports of a so-called “Maryam Nawaz Eidi Scheme” promising PKR 5,000 to citizens, calling them entirely false and misleading. Social media posts on Instagram, YouTube, and X (formerly Twitter) claimed that low-income families and individuals over 12 years old could register via a government portal to receive financial aid during Eid-ul-Fitr.

Government officials quickly responded to the misinformation. Zeeshan Malik, Advisor to the Chief Minister on Political Affairs, confirmed that no such scheme exists. Similarly, Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari strongly refuted the reports, emphasizing that no handouts or official announcements have been issued regarding such a program.

Authorities warned the public against sharing personal information on fake registration links, citing the risk of cybercrime and data theft. They urged citizens to rely solely on official government channels and verified national media for any information about public relief initiatives.

The Punjab Government stressed that all legitimate aid programs are always promoted through official notifications and verified platforms to ensure transparency and public trust.
