Sindh Cabinet Waives Salaries for 3 Months, Announces Work-from-Home to Conserve Fuel

Karachi: The Sindh government has announced a series of austerity measures aimed at tackling the ongoing fuel situation, including a decision by the provincial cabinet to forgo their salaries for three months and implement work-from-home on Fridays.

Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon stated that the provincial government is fully aligned with federal policies and will continue to support all decisions taken by the center to manage the current challenges.

He said that in light of the prevailing circumstances, the cabinet has voluntarily decided not to draw salaries for three months as part of cost-cutting efforts. Additionally, a work-from-home policy has been introduced for Fridays to help reduce fuel consumption.

Memon emphasized that the Sindh government would strictly implement any decision made by the federal government, including a potential lockdown if deemed necessary. He added that all possible steps are being taken to ensure the availability of fuel and to manage public needs effectively.

To further conserve fuel, the government has also grounded a significant number of official vehicles. The minister noted that these measures are part of a broader strategy to prevent shortages and control inflation.

He appealed to the public to cooperate by opting to work from home wherever possible, stressing that the situation requires collective responsibility. He reiterated that the government’s top priority is to maintain price stability and prevent any fuel crisis while ensuring that public transport services continue to operate efficiently.
