Pakistan Assures Adequate Fuel Supply, Warns of LNG Shortfall After April 14

Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has stated that Pakistan’s fuel availability remains satisfactory, urging the public to avoid panic buying or unnecessary hoarding.

The assurance came during a meeting of the cabinet committee overseeing petroleum product monitoring, chaired by the minister. Officials briefed the meeting that fuel requirements for March have been fully secured, while planning is already underway to ensure stable supply for April.

The committee was also informed that efforts are being made to explore additional sources from the global market to further strengthen fuel supply.

Speaking at the meeting, the minister emphasized that the country’s position regarding fuel availability is stable and under control.

However, concerns were raised on the liquefied natural gas (LNG) front. The Secretary Petroleum warned that LNG supplies may not be available in the country after April 14, which could impact the power sector’s ability to meet its gas requirements during the month.

The development highlights a potential challenge for energy management despite the government’s assurance of overall fuel stability.
