Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman Blasts Government Over Fuel Shortages, Says Balochistan Turned Into “A Police Station”

Quetta: Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Balochistan and provincial assembly member Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman Baloch has expressed deep concern over severe petrol and diesel shortages in Balochistan, along with the closure of border routes. He described the situation as a result of government incompetence, saying it has paralyzed transport systems and brought business activities across the province to a standstill.

Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman criticized the government strongly, stating that Balochistan has been turned into “Srinagar”—essentially a massive police station—with an overwhelming presence of checkpoints, fear, and curfew-like conditions. He warned that the closure of border trade has left thousands of families struggling to survive, with poor laborers and small traders forced into extreme hardship.

He urged the government to empathize with public suffering rather than blindly following directives from above, emphasizing that the needs of the powerful cannot feed the poor. Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman demanded immediate fuel supply, removal of unnecessary restrictions, and the reopening of border trade to provide relief to the people. He cautioned that failure to act could lead to heightened public unrest and further deterioration of the situation.
