Academic Staff Association of University of Balochistan Condemns Delay in Salaries and Pensions

Quetta:The Academic Staff Association (ASA) of the University of Balochistan and the FAPUASA Balochistan Chapter have strongly condemned the delay in the payment of salaries and pensions to university staff on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha. The statement was issued by the President of FAPUASA Balochistan and ASA, Professor Dr. Kaleem Ullah Baloch, along with other office-bearers, including General Secretary Fareed Khan Achakzai, Vice-President Dr. Shabbir Ahmed Shahwani, Joint Secretary Zahra Malghani, Finance Secretary Professor Dr. Sahibzada Baz Muhammad Kakr, Press Secretary Rehmat Ullah Achakzai, and Executive Members Arbab Raza Kasi, Farhana Umar Magsi, Dr. Mohib Ullah Kakr, Dr. Gul Muhammad Baloch, and Professor Masood Mandokhail.

The statement highlighted that once again, the teaching staff and officers of the University of Balochistan have been deprived of their legitimate right to receive their Eid-ul-Adha salaries and pensions. It was pointed out that the provincial government and HEC officials had already received their full salary and pension for May before Eid, but the faculty and officers at the University of Balochistan were unjustly excluded from these benefits.

The statement expressed shock over the actions of the provincial government and HEC, questioning why they are continuously denying the university staff their fundamental rights. The academic and non-academic staff of the university have been deprived of their salaries and pensions in a timely manner, and now there are reports of efforts to terminate the approved allowances for staff members at the University of Balochistan and other institutions in the province.

The association also appealed to the Vice Chancellor and Pro Vice Chancellor of the University of Balochistan to urgently ensure that the provincial government releases the necessary funds for the payment of salaries and pensions before Eid.

The statement concluded with a firm warning that if the provincial government does not reverse its decision to cancel the approved allowances for university staff and fails to ensure a permanent solution for the timely payment of salaries and pensions, the ASA, FAPUASA, and the Grand Alliance will be forced to initiate a boycott of classes and a strike.
