Islamabad:** **Pakistan** and **Saudi Arabia** have agreed to make joint diplomatic efforts to resolve ongoing regional tensions peacefully and prevent them from turning into a broader conflict among Muslim countries, sources familiar with high-level discussions said.
The understanding emerged during **Shehbaz Sharif**’s brief but significant visit to **Jeddah**, where the Pakistani prime minister held talks with **Mohammed bin Salman**, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia. The Pakistani delegation included **Syed Asim Munir** and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister **Ishaq Dar**.

The two countries also reaffirmed their consistent policy that conflicts within the Muslim world should be avoided and that every effort must be made to prevent tensions from escalating into a wider clash among Muslim nations.
During the talks, the Pakistani delegation expressed strong solidarity with Saudi Arabia and reiterated that Pakistan has always stood by the Kingdom in safeguarding its sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity.
Officials said the Pakistani leadership emphasized Saudi Arabia’s special importance as the custodian of Islam’s holiest sites, adding that their protection is a matter of honor and responsibility for Pakistan and its armed forces.
Sources also highlighted the symbolic significance of Field Marshal Asim Munir attending the meeting in military uniform, which was seen as a sign of unity between Pakistan’s civilian and military leadership regarding Saudi Arabia’s security.
According to officials, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman also hosted a special dinner in honor of the Pakistani delegation, attended only by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, and Field Marshal Asim Munir—an indication of the close and special ties between the two countries.
Both sides agreed that at a time of rising regional tensions, it is essential to reduce hostilities, prevent further escalation, and promote unity within the Muslim world.
