Meteorology Department Predicts 30 Days of Ramadan, Eid Moon Expected on March 21

Islamabad: The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a forecast regarding the sighting of the Eid-ul-Fitr moon.

Deputy Director Anjum Nazir stated that the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will hold a meeting in Islamabad on March 19, but it will be impossible to sight the moon on that day.

He explained that on March 19, the moon will be born at 6:23 AM Pakistan Standard Time, and at sunset, its age will be just 12 hours and a few minutes. Scientifically, a moon of this age cannot be seen even through a telescope, let alone with the naked eye, which requires the moon to be at least 14 hours old for visibility.

According to Anjum Nazir, it is likely that Ramadan will complete 30 days this year, and the first day of Shawwal, marking Eid-ul-Fitr, could fall on Saturday, March 21. However, the official announcement will be made by the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
