UAE and Bahrain Extend Visa Renewal Deadlines Amid Regional Tensions

UNITED ARAB EMIRATES / BAHRAIN — Authorities in the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain have announced extensions for visa renewals in response to ongoing regional tensions.

The UAE has allowed visa holders stranded abroad to renew their Emirates visas until March 31, 2026. This decision will apply retroactively to individuals who were outside the UAE from February 28 onward. Officials said the extension was granted due to escalating tensions in the Middle East.

Meanwhile, Bahrain’s Nationality, Passport, and Residence Affairs office, operating under the Ministry of Interior, announced exceptional measures for visit visa holders affected by the recent regional disputes involving the United States, Israel, and Iran. Those whose visit visas were valid until February 28, 2026, but were unable to travel due to canceled flights or other extraordinary circumstances, will receive a three-month extension.

The Bahraini authorities stated that this measure aims to ease the burden on affected travelers and protect them from additional legal or financial penalties. Passengers whose visas expire will also be exempted from fines for delayed departure, with the exemption lasting for one month after airspace reopens to allow safe travel.

The Ministry of Interior urged travelers to check their travel documents and take timely action to benefit from the new provisions. Authorities assured that all legal protections and facilities would be provided to minimize the impact of regional tensions and offer relief to travelers.
