Middle East Tensions Boost Pakistan’s Airspace Revenue by Hundreds of Thousands of Dollars Daily

Karachi: Ongoing tensions in the Middle East have unexpectedly brought financial benefits to Pakistan, as the number of international flights using the country’s airspace has increased significantly.
According to sources, the number of overflying flights has risen by about 15 percent, leading to a noticeable increase in revenue.
Officials from the Pakistan Airports Authority said that the number of flights passing through Pakistan’s airspace has now exceeded 700 per day, generating substantial economic gains for the country.
Sources revealed that the rise in overflying aircraft is currently generating around $800,000 in daily revenue for the authority. Additionally, the surge in flights has resulted in an extra daily income of approximately $150,000.
Before the recent tensions in the Middle East, an average of 550 to 600 flights used Pakistan’s airspace each day.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s airspace remains closed to Indian airlines. According to sources, Pakistan has kept its airspace closed to Indian carriers since April 23, 2025, forcing Indian airlines to take longer alternative routes for their international flights.
