President Asif Ali Zardari to Address Joint Sitting of Parliament Tomorrow

A joint sitting of both houses of Parliament will be held in Islamabad tomorrow at 10:30am, where President Asif Ali Zardari will deliver an address.
The President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan has summoned the joint session of the Majlis-e-Shoora (Parliament) under Articles 54(1) and 56(3) of the Constitution. According to the National Assembly Secretariat, a joint sitting is convened at the start of each parliamentary year, and the President’s address is a constitutional requirement.
This will mark the ninth time that President Asif Ali Zardari addresses a joint session of Parliament in his capacity as head of state.
Preparations for the session are underway, with the National Assembly Secretariat finalizing arrangements. In light of the tense regional environment, stringent security measures are also being put in place.
Sources indicate that the President is expected to speak on the evolving regional situation, including tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan, the ongoing conflict involving the United States and Israel with Iran, and the broader impact of retaliatory developments affecting Gulf countries.
The address is also expected to outline the government’s two-year performance, national priorities, democratic stability, constitutional supremacy, sustainable economic development, the regional and global landscape, and the country’s resolve to combat terrorism. The President will reaffirm Pakistan’s commitment to eliminating terrorism, including threats allegedly backed by foreign elements operating within the country.
