Islamabad High Court Approves Miscellaneous Pleas of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi in Toshakhana-II Case

Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court has approved two miscellaneous applications filed by former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan and his spouse Bushra Bibi in the Toshakhana-II case, directing that their appeals against conviction be formally numbered and fixed for hearing.
Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro heard the petitions. During the proceedings, Barrister Salman Safdar, Salman Akram Raja, and other counsel appeared before the court, while Imran Khan’s three sisters were also present.
Barrister Salman Safdar argued that the registrar’s office had raised unjustified objections to the appeals. He said the defense became aware of the objections only after filing applications for suspension of the sentence. He maintained that some objections were baseless, including one regarding an allegedly outdated power of attorney, which was later accepted by the office itself.
The counsel further stated that additional objections were raised over issues such as page flagging and document arrangement. At this, Justice Soomro remarked that the pages could be properly flagged. The court questioned why the case was still listed with objections if those concerns had already been addressed.
The court directed that any remaining objections be resolved within seven days. Justice Soomro ruled that both miscellaneous applications—seeking removal of objections to the main appeal and extension of time to address them—were allowed.
At the conclusion of the hearing, Barrister Salman Safdar requested facilitation, citing the challenges already being faced. Justice Soomro responded that the applications had been accepted and that the parties were not being sent back empty-handed.
