Pakistan Announces Strikes on Seven Alleged Militant Sites Inside Afghanistan

Pakistan has announced that it carried out targeted strikes on seven alleged militant hideouts inside Afghanistan following a series of recent suicide attacks targeting security forces and civilians.

According to Afghan media and local sources, reports of airstrikes emerged from multiple areas across Afghanistan. A loud explosion was reported in Barmal district of Paktika province, where officials claim a suspected militant hideout was targeted. Sources stated that fighter jets conducted aerial operations in the district, allegedly causing significant damage to militant infrastructure. However, independent confirmation of casualties or damage remains unavailable.

Reports further indicate that after the operation in Paktika, aircraft struck targets in the Khogyani district of Nangarhar province. Afghan media also reported air activity in Ghani Khel and Hesarak areas, though details regarding casualties or material losses have yet to be verified.

In a statement, Pakistan’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said there was evidence linking recent attacks in Islamabad, Bajaur, and Bannu to militant leadership and facilitators allegedly based in Afghanistan. The ministry stated that the attacks were claimed by Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), also referred to by Pakistani authorities as “Fitna al-Khawarij,” along with their allied groups.

According to the statement, Pakistan possessed credible intelligence indicating that the attacks were orchestrated under instructions from militant leaders operating from Afghan territory. Authorities said Pakistan had repeatedly urged the Afghan interim government to take effective and verifiable action to prevent its soil from being used by terrorist organizations and proxy elements against Pakistan, but claimed that sufficient progress had not been made.

Officials maintained that the latest strikes were intelligence-based operations aimed at specific targets and limited to militant camps and facilities. They emphasized that the objective was to disrupt cross-border militant networks while safeguarding civilian lives.

Pakistan reiterated that it seeks peace and stability in the region but stressed that the safety and security of its citizens remain its top priority. It also called on the Afghan interim government to fulfill its responsibilities and prevent its territory from being used for terrorist activities against Pakistan.

Additionally, Pakistan urged the international community to press the Afghan Taliban administration to adhere to its commitments under the Doha Agreement to promote regional and global peace and security.

So far, there has been no official response from the Afghan interim government regarding Pakistan’s statement or the reported strikes within its territory.
