Pakistan Summons Afghan Chargéd’ Affaires Over Terror Attacks on Its Soil

Islamabad: Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Afghan Chargé d’Affaires on February 17, 2026, to deliver a strong protest (demarche) over a terrorist attack in Bajaur on February 16, 2026, in which 11 Pakistani soldiers were killed.

The attack involved a vehicle-borne suicide bombing followed by armed gunfire targeting a Pakistani armed forces and law enforcement post. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the incident, attributing it to Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) / Fitnah al-Khawarij, which is reportedly operating from Afghan territory.

Pakistan expressed deep concern that TTP, led from Afghanistan, continues to conduct cross-border militant activities despite repeated assurances from the Afghan interim government. Islamabad urged the Afghan authorities to take immediate, effective, concrete, and verifiable action against all terrorist groups and their leadership operating from Afghan soil.

The Ministry made it clear that Pakistan reserves the right to take action against TTP-affiliated militants and their facilitators anywhere to protect its soldiers, civilians, and territorial integrity.
