Why PTI Talks Are Stalled Despite PM’s Offer? Khawaja Asif Speaks Out

Islamabad: Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has explained why negotiations with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) are not progressing, despite multiple offers from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Speaking to private media, Khawaja Asif said that the government is ready for serious talks, but PTI’s response has been abusive and dismissive. He noted that several proposals for dialogue were made, yet PTI did not respond positively.

The minister added that the Prime Minister clearly offered negotiations three to four times, but PTI still refused to engage. He emphasized that political disputes can only be resolved through dialogue, and rudeness in response prevents progress.

Khawaja Asif also stated that power is temporary, while politics requires consistency and patience. He reiterated that the government remains open to negotiations, but PTI’s leadership has not shown a serious approach so far.

On institutional accountability, the Defense Minister highlighted that the former DG ISI was held accountable, demonstrating that self-regulation exists within institutions. He credited the current military leadership for initiating accountability within their own ranks.
