PSX Opens Week in the Red as KSE-100 Drops Over 2%

KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange witnessed a negative trend at the start of the new business week, with selling pressure dominating trading activity.
From the opening bell, the benchmark KSE-100 Index remained under pressure. At one point during intraday trading, the index plunged by 2,242 points to reach 177,360 points.
So far, the KSE-100 Index has recorded a decline of 2.25 percent during trading.
The downturn follows last week’s bearish performance, when the benchmark index fell by 4,525 points to close at 179,603 points. During the previous trading week, the index moved within a wide band of 7,413 points.
Market activity remained significant, with 4.31 billion shares traded during the week in deals worth Rs212 billion. However, market capitalization declined by Rs523 billion to stand at Rs20,359 billion, reflecting investor caution and continued volatility in the equity market.
