Customs Valuation Directorate Reduces Import Values for Used Computers, Laptops, and Printers in Karachi

Karachi: The Directorate General of Customs Valuation announced on Friday a significant reduction in the customs values for old and used computers, laptops, and printers imported from various countries.
According to reports, a new valuation ruling (No. 2000 and 2025) has been issued to facilitate importers. The reduced customs values will now also apply to accessories of imported used and old computers, laptops, and printers.
This reduction will cover all such items arriving from any country. The ruling highlighted that the previous valuation had been in place for over a year. Therefore, based on the analysis of imported data, prevailing market trends, market prices, and the discrepancy between market and customs values, the Directorate initiated a revaluation process under Sections 25 and 25A of the Customs Act, 1969.
During the valuation meetings, stakeholders emphasized that prices of used models had dropped significantly and that customs values should reflect these changes.
Customs values for used computer equipment, such as laptops and printers, were ultimately determined based on their transactional values, ensuring a more accurate calculation of duties and taxes.
