SUPARCO Predicts Likely Date for Start of Ramadan in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The **Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO)** has issued its forecast regarding the sighting of the crescent moon for Ramadan.

According to a spokesperson for SUPARCO, the new moon of Ramadan is expected to be born on February 17 at 5:01pm. By sunset on February 18, the moon’s age will be approximately 25 hours and 48 minutes, making it visible to the naked eye under clear weather conditions.

Based on astronomical calculations, the Ramadan crescent is likely to be sighted on the evening of February 18, and the first fast in Pakistan is expected to fall on February 19.

However, the final announcement regarding the sighting of the moon and the official start of Ramadan will be made by the **Ruet-e-Hilal Committee**.
