Shah Mahmood Qureshi Expresses Concern Over PTI Founder’s Eye Condition, Blames Jail Administration

Lahore: Senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader and former Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi expressed deep concern over the eye health of Imran Khan, stating that he feels saddened and helpless, with prayer being the only recourse.
Speaking to the media outside the Anti-Terrorism Court in Lahore, Qureshi emphasized that prisoners have rights which must be respected, and it is the responsibility of the jail administration to ensure proper care. He cited examples of PTI leader Mahmood Al-Rashid, who could not be taken to the hospital for check-ups due to alleged security lapses, and similarly, Dr. Yasmin Rashid’s treatment was delayed for the same reason.
Qureshi added that his own treatment at PKLI has been affected due to a lack of police security, preventing him from receiving necessary medical care, and he holds the Punjab government accountable for these lapses. “If eyesight is lost, the responsibility lies with the jail administration and the government,” he said.
Commenting on broader issues, Qureshi criticized current policies, referenced the distress of citizens such as Alima Khan, and called for peace in the country. He also echoed concerns about terrorism in Balochistan, alleging Indian involvement, while stressing his support for the government’s official stance.
The statements reflect growing political and public concern over the treatment of PTI’s founder in custody and the broader challenges facing prison and medical systems.
