10-Year-Old Sara Sharif Murder Case: Appeal for Harsher Sentences

Islamabad:Progress has been made in the tragic case of 10-year-old Sara Sharif’s murder. According to foreign media reports, the Attorney General has approached the Court of Appeal to seek an increase in the sentence of Sara Sharif’s father, Irfan Sharif, for his involvement in the killing.

The Attorney General argued that Sara Sharif endured unimaginable pain, distress, and anxiety, and that Irfan Sharif had been given an unusually lenient sentence. The court had previously sentenced Irfan Sharif to a minimum of 40 years in prison, and his stepmother to a minimum of 33 years.

The Court of Appeal is now set to decide whether the sentence should be increased or not.

It is noteworthy that on August 10, 2023, the body of 10-year-old Sara Sharif was found at her home in Woking. British police had reported that Sara’s father, uncle, and stepmother had left for Pakistan just hours before her body was discovered. It was later revealed that the father, Irfan Sharif, had informed the emergency services about the incident from Pakistan.

The UK authorities contacted Pakistan for the arrest of the suspects. A month later, upon their return to the UK, all three were arrested directly from the plane.
