World Bank Reaffirms Commitment to $20 Billion, 10-Year Program for Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The World Bank has reaffirmed its commitment to implementing a 10-year, $20 billion development program for Pakistan.

The assurance was given during a meeting between Federal Minister for Finance Muhammad Aurangzeb and the Managing Director of the World Bank on the sidelines of his visit to Saudi Arabia.

According to the Ministry of Finance, the meeting reviewed progress on the Pakistan–World Bank Country Partnership Framework. Discussions were held on cooperation in key sectors including energy, education, health, and climate change. The two sides also exchanged views on development projects under debt-for-development initiatives.

The ministry said the World Bank emphasized the need to improve implementation of various projects and assured continued support for Pakistan’s economic reform agenda.

Separately, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb also met Saudi Minister of Investment Faisal bin Fadhil Al-Ibrahim. During the meeting, the Saudi minister said that Saudi Arabia remains committed to benefiting from Pakistani talent and strengthening investment cooperation between the two countries.
