US Approves $1.3 Billion Loan for Pakistan’s Reko Diq Project

Washington — The United States has approved a $1.3 billion loan for Pakistan’s key Reko Diq mining project, considered a game changer for the country’s economy.
The approval was announced during a meeting chaired by the US Secretary of State in Washington, where participants discussed ways to secure the supply of critical minerals. The meeting focused on developing new supply chain sources and promoting secure and reliable transportation and logistics networks.
During the discussions, the United States agreed to extend a $1.3 billion loan for Pakistan’s Reko Diq project. The financing will be provided by the US Export-Import Bank under President Donald Trump’s “Vault Project” initiative.
Officials said the move reflects growing cooperation between the two countries in the minerals and energy sectors and is aimed at strengthening global supply chains for critical resources.
