National Assembly Passes Key Bills on Media and Real Estate, Session Adjourned Over Lack of Quorum

Islamabad: The National Assembly on Friday passed several important bills related to media and real estate; however, the session was later adjourned due to an incomplete quorum.
According to Express News, the National Assembly session began under the chairmanship of Deputy Speaker Ghulam Mustafa Shah, during which multiple legislative items were taken up and approved.
During the session, the Centers of Excellence (Amendment) Bill 2026 was presented in the House, while the Federal Government Real Estate Management Authority Bill 2026 was also tabled. Both government bills were moved by Minister of State Wajeeh Qamar.
The House also presented the standing committee’s report on the Islamabad Capital Territory Senior Citizens (Amendment) Bill 2025. In addition, a motion to consider the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Amendment) Bill 2025 was approved, after which the bill was passed by the National Assembly. The bill was introduced by Federal Minister Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh.
Similarly, the Associated Press of Pakistan Corporation (Amendment) Bill 2025 was passed by the House, also presented by Federal Minister Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh. The National Assembly further approved an amendment bill related to the terms and conditions of service of newspaper employees, which was likewise moved by the same minister.
During the proceedings, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) Member of the National Assembly Alia Kamran pointed out the lack of quorum. Following her indication, the Deputy Speaker ordered a count of members. After the count, the quorum was found to be incomplete, leading to the suspension of proceedings.
As the quorum could not be completed, the National Assembly session was adjourned until Monday at 5:00 pm.
