Severe Load Shedding and Low Voltage in Kali Umar Afghan Colony Leave Residents Struggling

Quetta (Qudrat Daily) – Residents of Kali Umar Afghan Colony in the provincial capital Quetta are facing severe hardships due to prolonged and erratic load shedding and significant voltage fluctuations. The frequent power outages have paralyzed daily life, while low voltage has rendered household electrical appliances, including fans and refrigerators, largely inoperative.
According to local sources, electricity supply in the colony is often suspended for several hours, and when power is available, the voltage is too low for essential appliances to function properly. Residents say that the lack of electricity during extreme cold and hot weather has greatly affected children, the elderly, and patients.
Despite repeated complaints to the relevant authorities, no substantial action has been taken so far. Residents also complained that there is no fixed schedule for load shedding, causing severe difficulties for business owners, students, and homemakers. Low voltage has even resulted in incidents of costly electrical appliances getting damaged, leading to financial losses for consumers.
Local residents have urged KElectric and the provincial government to immediately improve electricity supply in Kali Umar Afghan Colony, introduce a fair load-shedding schedule, and provide a permanent solution to the voltage problem, warning that failure to act may force the public to stage protests.
