Gas Supply Disrupted in Quetta After Major Pipeline Rupture Near Mach

Quetta:A rupture in a high-pressure gas pipeline near Mach has disrupted gas supply to Quetta and several surrounding districts, according to a statement by Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) spokesperson Salman Ahmed Siddiqui.
The spokesperson said that an 18-inch-diameter QPCEP transmission pipeline ruptured at around 5 a.m. on Saturday, affecting gas supply to multiple areas including Pishin, Kuchlak, Ziarat, Boustan, Hermanzai, Mastung, Kalat, Mangocher, Kadkocha, and nearby regions.
He added that as an emergency alternative, limited low-pressure gas supply is being provided through SSGC’s 12-inch QPL line to select suburban parts of Quetta, including Nawan Killi, Hanna, Saraghurgai, Pashtoonabad, and the Eastern Bypass.
SSGC’s technical teams were immediately dispatched to the site, and efforts are underway for urgent repair of the damaged pipeline. The spokesperson said the company regrets the inconvenience caused to consumers and is taking emergency measures to ensure gas availability during cooking hours in urban areas.
“Given the situation, it is too early to estimate the completion time of the repair work, but the company will continue to keep its consumers informed,” he added.
