Court Expresses Anger Over Failure to Submit Charge Sheet in Nov 26 Protest Case

Islamabad: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Islamabad has expressed strong displeasure over the failure to submit a charge sheet in the November 26 protest case against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, Junaid Akbar, and others, and has issued a show-cause notice to the investigating officer.

The case was heard by ATC Judge Tahir Abbas Supra, who questioned why the charge sheet had not yet been completed and submitted. The judge directed the investigating officer to explain the delay, emphasizing the court’s demand for timely compliance.

During the hearing, Judge Tahir Abbas Supra remarked that the matter between the police and the accused was not the court’s concern, stating that the court required the charge sheet regardless of the steps taken by law enforcement. He added that whether the police choose to arrest the accused or take any other action is not the court’s issue.

It is pertinent to note that a case against Sohail Afridi and others was registered at Margalla Police Station in connection with the protest held on November 26.
