Minister of State Musadik Malik Says Hindutva “Out of Control” in India, Condemns Politicisation of Sports

Minister of State Dr. Musadik Malik has said that the ideology of Hindutva is spiralling out of control in India, accusing New Delhi of politicising sports after attempting polarization over borders and water issues.
In a statement, Musadik Malik said that India first tried to create divisions through border disputes and water-related issues, and has now dragged sports into politics. He stressed that sports are meant to promote peace and unity, not division.
“Sports are a cradle of peace. When players step onto the field, differences of race, colour, and language fade away. Everyone competes on the basis of skill and performance,” he said, adding that this spirit is the true beauty of sports.
The minister termed the politicisation of cricket by India as a “highly reprehensible act” and said Pakistan’s protest and decision not to play a match against India was completely justified.
He recalled that the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) had earlier refused to send its team to India for the T20 World Cup, scheduled to begin on February 6 in India and Sri Lanka, citing security concerns. Pakistan had supported Bangladesh’s stance at the time.
However, the International Cricket Council (ICC) did not accept the BCB’s position and replaced Bangladesh with Scotland for the T20 World Cup 2026. Musadik Malik said Pakistan has adopted a firm stance against what it described as the ICC’s pro-India policies and Bangladesh’s exclusion from the tournament.
He added that, in protest, Pakistan has decided not to play a match against India during the tournament.
