Legal Challenge Filed Against Trump Administration’s Suspension of Immigrant Visa Processing for 75 Countries

A group of civil rights organizations has filed a lawsuit in a New York court challenging the Trump administration’s decision to suspend immigrant visa processing for 75 countries, including Pakistan.
The lawsuit has been filed against the US Department of State, arguing that the new policy undermines decades of established US immigration law. The petitioners contend that the suspension causes serious harm to lawful immigration pathways and violates long-standing legal principles governing the US visa system.
The civil rights groups have urged the court to issue an order blocking the implementation of the visa policy, calling it arbitrary and unlawful.
It is noteworthy that the Trump administration’s decision to halt immigrant visa processing came into effect on January 21. Besides Pakistan, the affected countries include Afghanistan, Albania, Algeria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Belarus, Bhutan, Bosnia, and several others.
The case is now pending before the court, and its outcome could have significant implications for thousands of prospective immigrants awaiting visa processing.
