Government Denies Offering PTI Election Commission Reconstitution and Early Elections

**Islamabad:** The federal government has categorically denied reports claiming that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was offered a reconstitution of the Election Commission and early general elections. Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar termed such reports “completely false and baseless.”

The clarification came after a private TV anchor claimed on his program that two key meetings had taken place recently, following which a high-level decision was allegedly made to present PTI with a “final and strong offer.” According to the claim, PTI was to be asked to return to parliament, join parliamentary committees, and become part of the parliamentary process.

The anchor further alleged that, in return, the government was prepared to take two major steps: reconstituting the entire Election Commission and introducing amendments to electoral laws to ensure transparency in future elections. He also claimed that the government was willing to hold general elections a year ahead of schedule, and that legal relief for PTI founder Imran Khan and his close associates could follow if such a deal materialized.

Responding to these claims on social media, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar firmly rejected the reports, saying he did not understand how such stories were fabricated every few days. He emphasized that there was no truth to any suggestion of early elections or negotiations involving such offers.

Separately, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan also dismissed the reports during a press conference in Islamabad, calling them mere rumors. He stated that there was no offer from the government regarding early elections or any other deal, and stressed that matters concerning PTI, Imran Khan, and democracy were serious issues that should not be reported based on unverified sources.

Following clear denials from both the government and PTI leadership, serious questions have been raised over the credibility of the claims made in the media report.
