T20 World Cup 2026: Pakistan Weighs Options Including Possible Boycott of Match Against India

Lahore: An important decision regarding Pakistan’s participation in the T20 World Cup 2026 is expected today, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif set to make the final call.
According to sources, multiple options are under consideration by Pakistan, including the possibility of boycotting only the match against India rather than withdrawing completely from the mega event. Another proposal being discussed is that Pakistani players may take the field wearing black armbands as a form of protest.
Sources said the Prime Minister will review all aspects of the issue before announcing a final decision, which will be formally communicated later. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman is scheduled to meet the Prime Minister today as part of the consultation process.
During the meeting, other matters are also expected to be discussed, including a proposal related to excluding Bangladesh from the mega event. The PCB has also decided to consult Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar regarding participation in the tournament.
Earlier, Federal Information Minister Atta Tarar stated that consultations are ongoing and that the public will be informed once a decision is finalized.
