Shahid Afridi Rejects Misuse of His Video Amid Rising Fuel Prices

Karachi: Former Pakistan cricket captain and star all-rounder Shahid Khan Afridi has strongly condemned attempts to link an old video of his to the recent surge in petroleum prices, calling such efforts shameful and misleading. Afridi made it clear that he in no way supports or defends the financial burden the rising prices are placing on the public.
Key points from Afridi’s statement:
Video Context: Afridi clarified that the video circulating on social media was recorded before the recent price hike. It was created at the request of the Ministry of Information (Ataullah Tarar) solely to raise awareness about energy conservation and responsible usage.
Stance on Price Hike: The former captain bluntly stated that the recent fuel price increase is crushing for ordinary citizens, and defending it is impossible.
Condemnation of Political Misuse: Afridi criticized those who have manipulated his message for political gain, labeling it a shameful attempt by “ignorant and ill-informed” individuals to mislead the public.
Afridi’s clarification effectively dispels any rumors suggesting that he supports government policies or the recent rise in prices.
