HDP National Congress: Abdul Khaliq Hazara Elected Unopposed Chairman, Ahmed Ali Kohzad Becomes General Secretary

**Quetta:** The Hazara Democratic Party (HDP) concluded its two-day National Congress with the completion of the election process for new office-bearers under the supervision of the party’s election committee. According to the official results, Abdul Khaliq Hazara was elected unopposed as Chairman of the party.
Polling was held from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm, during which 153 votes were cast out of a total of 174 electoral votes, recording a voter turnout of 88 percent.
For the Central Council, 30 candidates contested 21 seats. The following members were elected after securing the highest number of votes: Abdul Khaliq Hazara, Ahmed Ali Kohzad, Qadir Ali Nail, Ismatullah Yari, Mirza Hussain Hazara, Muhammad Zaman Dehqanzada, Azizullah Hazara, Seema Batool, Advocate Mujtaba Zahid, Muhammad Raza Hazara, Abdul Ali Hazara, Muhammad Dawood Changezi, Ismail Changezi, Ghulam Ali Hazara, Muhammad Younis Changezi, Rehmat Ali, Ghulam Raza, Muhammad Hussain Tarani, Muhammad Ali, Fareeda, and Ali Madad.
The following office-bearers of the Executive Council were elected unopposed:
Chairman: Abdul Khaliq Hazara
Senior Vice Chairman: Azizullah Hazara
Vice Chairman: Mirza Hussain
General Secretary: Ahmed Ali Kohzad
Organizing Secretary: Muhammad Dawood Changezi
Deputy Secretary: Ismatullah Yari
Information Secretary: Qadir Ali Nail
Finance Secretary: Advocate Mujtaba Zahid
Delegations from various political parties participated in the process as observers to assess the transparency of the elections. These included representatives from the Balochistan National Party, the National Democratic Movement, and the Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party. Elders from the Hazara community also observed the electoral process.
Announcing the results, Election Committee Chairman Dr. Taqi termed the elections a major achievement for the HDP, highlighting the direct participation of grassroots workers in selecting the party leadership. He expressed hope that the newly elected councils would work to promote tolerance and harmony among the diverse communities residing in Quetta.
According to a party statement, the newly elected Central and Executive Councils will take oath at a public gathering on January 26, to be held on the anniversary of the party’s martyred chairman.
