Audit Reveals Over PKR 1.8 Billion Financial Irregularities in Balochistan Revenue Department
**Quetta (Daily Qudrat):** An official audit report has revealed financial irregularities exceeding PKR 1.8 billion in the Balochistan Revenue Department for the fiscal year 2022-23. According to the report, a total of PKR 4.71 billion was allocated to the department, but PKR 1.42 billion of expenditures were found to be illegal or improperly managed.
The report highlights that various firms and companies were overpaid by PKR 58.7 million from the state treasury, while PKR 24.4 million was lost due to mismanagement in other areas. Additionally, PKR 315 million in government taxes and duties went uncollected.
The audit strongly recommended investigations into these financial irregularities and identification of responsible individuals. Officials emphasized that these lapses not only affected the department’s financial performance but also caused significant losses to the state treasury. The report urged that strict legal action should be taken against those responsible and preventive measures implemented to avoid future discrepancies.
