Details of National Civil Awards and Privileges Presented in National Assembly

Islamabad: The details of national civil awards and the privileges attached to them were presented before the National Assembly on Tuesday.
During the session, the Cabinet Secretariat informed the House that over the past three years, more than 1,200 individuals were conferred civil awards in recognition of their outstanding performance. It was further disclosed that out of a total of 21 national awards, 16 civil awards qualify for associated privileges.
The House was told that recipients of five awards are entitled to both privileges and cash rewards. According to the Cabinet Secretariat, recipients of Nishan-e-Shujaat are awarded PKR 1.5 million during their lifetime, while PKR 1.875 million is paid posthumously. Similarly, Hilal-e-Shujaat awardees receive PKR 1.25 million during their lifetime and PKR 1.625 million after death.
Recipients of Sitara-e-Shujaat are granted PKR 1.125 million during their lifetime and PKR 1.375 million posthumously, while Tamgha-e-Shujaat awardees receive PKR 1.025 million during their lifetime and PKR 1.175 million after death. In addition, recipients of the Presidential Award for Pride of Performance are entitled to a cash prize of PKR 1.25 million.
The National Assembly was also informed that civil award recipients are eligible to use VIP lounges and government guest houses and are exempted from licenses for pistols, Kalashnikovs, .22 bore weapons, and two shotguns. However, no privileges are granted for recipients of Tamgha-e-Pakistan, Tamgha-e-Shujaat, Tamgha-e-Quaid-e-Azam, Tamgha-e-Khidmat, and Tamgha-e-Imtiaz.
According to the presented data, the Sindh government topped the list by awarding 149 civil honors over the past three years, followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with 114, Punjab with 74, and Balochistan with 37 awards.
It was further revealed that the Ministry of National Heritage awarded civil honors to 132 individuals, the Ministry of Information to 89, the Ministry of Interior to 85, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to 82, while the Prime Minister’s Secretariat honored 67 individuals during the same period.
