Pakistan Accepts Invitation to Join Gaza Board of Peace; PM Shahbaz Sharif Responds to Trump’s Call

Islamabad: Pakistan has accepted the invitation to join the Gaza Board of Peace aimed at establishing sustainable peace in the region, extended by former U.S. President Donald Trump, which Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has accepted.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Pakistan’s decision to join the Board of Peace aligns with its ongoing efforts to support the implementation of the Gaza peace initiative under UN Security Council resolutions and the established framework.

The government expressed hope that the framework would facilitate the implementation of a lasting ceasefire, increase humanitarian aid for the Palestinian people, and enable practical steps for Gaza’s reconstruction. Pakistan also emphasized that these efforts should help pave the way for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination through a credible political process in line with international law and relevant UN resolutions.

Pakistan expects that the initiative will contribute to the establishment of an independent, sovereign, and contiguous Palestinian state within the pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds as its capital. The country reaffirmed its commitment to play a constructive role as a member of the Board of Peace, aiming to achieve these objectives and alleviate the hardships of the Palestinian people.

Previously, the United Arab Emirates and Turkey had also joined the Board of Peace as members.
