ICC Intervention Leads to Issuance of Indian Visas for Pakistani-Origin Players in Other Teams

**Islamabad:** Following timely intervention by the International Cricket Council (ICC), the process of issuing Indian visas has begun for players and officials of Pakistani origin who are set to participate in the T20 World Cup.

According to Indian media reports, in the initial phase, three prominent England cricketers of Pakistani background—Adil Rashid, Rehan Ahmed, and Saqib Mahmood—have been granted Indian visas.

Sources say the ICC remains in constant contact with Indian authorities and is providing full support to all 42 players and officials who either belong to Pakistan or have a Pakistani background and are traveling to India for the T20 World Cup.

Uncertainty over visa issuance had caused concern among players from various teams. However, progress has been observed following the ICC’s intervention. Indian media reports that after visas were granted to the English cricketers, assurances have been given that Pakistani-origin players and officials in other national teams will also receive Indian visas soon.

ICC officials maintain that no player should face travel or administrative hurdles during a global event like the World Cup, and it is the host nation’s responsibility to provide equal facilities to all participating teams.

Sources further revealed that the ICC raised the issue on a priority basis, warning that visa delays could impact the tournament schedule and team preparations. Indian authorities have assured their cooperation, and the phased issuance of visas is currently underway.

It is noteworthy that a significant number of Pakistani-origin players are part of different national teams in the tournament. Following the ICC’s efforts, it is now expected that all concerned players and officials will obtain their visas in time to participate in the T20 World Cup.
