PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar: No Hostility Towards Opponents, No Contact with Establishment Yet

Rawalpindi: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan has stated that the party holds no enmity against its opponents and favors reconciliation. However, he warned that if the government extends one hand in cooperation while striking with the other, the situation will not improve. He also clarified that, at present, there is no contact with the establishment, and if any occurs, it will not be concealed.
Speaking to the media at a private housing society checkpoint in Rawalpindi, Barrister Gohar said PTI had attempted to meet the Chief Justice of Pakistan, but he was unavailable, and they had waited for three hours. He emphasized that meeting the PTI founder is a constitutional and legal right, noting that three sisters of the founder are to meet him, while others come to express solidarity.
He warned that no allegations should be raised against the PTI government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and called on the government to refrain from actions that could be misinterpreted as misconduct. He also urged that accusers present evidence for any claims.
Addressing ongoing legal cases, he said that the founder of PTI and Bushra Bibi have yet to secure bail even after a year, despite a sentence issued on January 17, 2025, at Al-Qadir. He urged the judiciary to ensure justice at the doorstep of citizens, warning that lack of justice leads people towards vigilantism and chaos.
Barrister Gohar stressed that PTI will be transparent about any backdoor communication if it occurs, but currently, there is no contact with the establishment or anyone else. He highlighted the responsibilities of leaders Allama Raja Nasser Abbas and Mahmood Khan Achakzai.
He urged party members to abandon ego and work collectively, stating that PTI stands with Pakistan, the Armed Forces, and the state. He welcomed the notification of opposition leaders, calling it a positive step for parliamentary institutions and democracy.
He warned that if the government cooperates sincerely, progress can be made, but if it acts deceitfully, public protests will continue. Barrister Gohar also announced February 8 as a symbolic day of protest, marking when the PTI mandate was allegedly stolen, and urged the public for peaceful demonstrations without disrupting essential services.
Regarding PTI’s ongoing case at the Election Commission, he said it remains under stay, and any consultations on the opposition leader notifications are internal matters of other parties. He expressed gratitude to the Speaker for issuing the notifications and clarified that PTI founder or leadership had no involvement in the matter.
