Bilawal Bhutto Alleges Organized Campaign to Defame Sindh, Cites Tharparkar Development as Proof of Progress

Mithi: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Tuesday said that Sindh is being deliberately maligned through an organized conspiracy, but stressed that the rapid development of Tharparkar is the strongest rebuttal to what he termed a false narrative.
Addressing a public gathering in Mithi, Bilawal Bhutto said certain forces want to roll back the powers granted under the 18th Constitutional Amendment and are attempting to justify this by promoting a misleading narrative that Sindh is not working or progressing.
He said such propaganda is aimed at plundering Sindh’s resources, adding that the people of the province have always rejected these designs. “The development of Tharparkar is clear evidence that these claims are baseless,” he remarked.
Bilawal Bhutto said he always feels happy visiting Thar because of the deep affection the local people have for the Pakistan Peoples Party, Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto.

Highlighting PPP’s efforts, he said the party’s hard work for the development of Tharparkar reflects its sincere concern for the welfare of the people of the region. He added that the same spirit of service is guiding the party’s work across Sindh and that the provincial government remains committed to people-friendly policies.
The PPP chairman termed it unfortunate that Sindh has often been denied the right to utilize its own resources, recalling that similar conspiracies were used to undermine initiatives launched by Shaheed Benazir Bhutto.
He said the discovery of Thar coal brought an economic revolution to the area, which in turn led to significant social development. “There was a time when Tharparkar had no dispensaries, health units, or hospitals. Today, a proper healthcare system has been established in the district,” he said.
Bilawal Bhutto further stated that the Thar Foundation was set up to ensure sustainable development, with a portion of profits generated from local resources being reinvested in the region.
He said development work is continuing across Sindh with the same commitment, adding that the provincial government thinks in terms of public welfare. He noted that the number of universities and campuses in Sindh has been doubled, expressing hope that students from Tharparkar will acquire education and excel in all fields.
Expressing satisfaction, he said that students from Gilgit-Baltistan are also coming to Tharparkar to pursue education, which he described as a positive sign of growing academic opportunities in the region.
