Hazara Democratic Party Criticizes Rising Inflation in Quetta, Demands Action Against Price Hikes

Quetta: The district chapter of the Hazara Democratic Party (HDP) has termed the rising inflation in Quetta a failure of what it called the “imposed Form-47 government,” stating that the provincial government has failed to deliver relief to the public.
In a statement, the party said that instead of improvement and success, the “corrupt provincial government” is becoming increasingly ineffective in all sectors. It added that the public has no one to look after their problems, while unemployment and weak economic conditions have made it difficult for ordinary citizens to sustain their livelihoods. The situation, the statement said, has been further worsened by soaring inflation.
The HDP criticized the performance of the district price control committee, saying its actions are limited to social media publicity and photo sessions, with no real relief provided to the public. It added that profiteers are openly violating official price lists without fear of action.
The statement pointed out that flour prices have been increased in Quetta, calling it an injustice to the public, as higher flour prices directly affect the daily lives of common people. The party said that even basic food items have become unaffordable for the poor.
According to the HDP, in areas including Alamdar Road, Mari Abad, Momin Abad, Nasir Abad, Hazara Town, and New Hazara Town, tandoor owners have increased the price of bread from Rs30 to Rs60. It alleged that previously bread was already being sold underweight at Rs30, and now under the pretext of selling double bread, poor citizens are being charged double the price for underweight loaves.
The Hazara Democratic Party demanded that the district administration take strict and practical action—rather than symbolic measures—against the sale of overpriced flour across Quetta, particularly against tandoor owners in Mari Abad and Hazara Town, and ensure the sale of flour and bread at officially fixed rates.
