Any Attempt on Yasin Malik’s Life Will Trigger an Explosion, Claims Wife Mishal Malik

Rawalpindi: Mishal Hussain Malik, wife of Kashmiri Hurriyat leader Yasin Malik, has warned that any attempt on her husband’s life would have serious consequences, saying it would be “an explosion” that would leave everyone helpless. She expressed fears that Yasin Malik could be sentenced on January 28.

Speaking to the media outside the Rawalpindi Press Club on January 5, observed as the Kashmiris’ Right to Self-Determination Day, Mishal Malik said that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s policies pose a threat to global peace. She stated that if the case of Kulbhushan Jadhav could be taken to the International Court of Justice, then Yasin Malik’s case could also be pursued at international forums. She added that no handshake with India would be acceptable until Yasin Malik is freed.

Mishal Malik said that a public outreach campaign to save Yasin Malik has been underway since November. For the first time in history, she said, activists have gone door to door to inform the public about Yasin Malik’s case and the details surrounding it.

Addressing Indian leaders Narendra Modi, Ajit Doval, and Rahul Gandhi, she warned that the issue is standing on a pile of explosives and blamed Modi for escalating tensions. She said patience has run out and if the situation erupts, Modi alone would be responsible, especially given that both Pakistan and India are nuclear-armed states. She described Asia as being on the brink of a nuclear tipping point, a concern she said has also been highlighted by Pakistan’s Army Chief.

Mishal Malik further claimed that voices within India itself are saying that Modi has crossed all red lines. She alleged that after India’s defeat in the “Maarka-e-Haq,” Modi and Doval are venting their anger on Yasin Malik and his family. She also compared the actions of Modi and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, saying their alleged oppression has no parallel in history. She warned that if the issue remains unresolved, reactions could emerge from China and Bangladesh, and the resulting situation would be beyond anyone’s control.

She said that Pakistan’s Field Marshal has already briefed the United States about India’s intentions, while the Indian opposition has also been criticizing Narendra Modi. According to her, even the RSS has been forced to admit that Modi has crossed red lines. She announced that campaigns, including signature drives in markets and housing societies, will continue for Yasin Malik’s release.

Responding to a question, Mishal Malik criticized Indian politician Asaduddin Owaisi, urging him to “come to his senses” and address the situation of minorities within India, which she said is worse than that in occupied Kashmir. She said a legal cell is needed at Pakistan’s Foreign Office and confirmed that a petition regarding Yasin Malik has been filed at the United Nations.

She added that she had appealed to former Prime Minister Imran Khan and successive governments regarding Yasin Malik’s case and continues to do so. Emphasizing that Kashmir is Pakistan’s core issue, she said that after the “Maarka-e-Haq,” Pakistan now has greater influence globally and needs a permanent envoy dedicated to the Kashmir cause.
