PMA Quetta Announces Strong Protest Over ‘Unacceptable’ Conduct of Health Secretary

**Quetta:** The Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Quetta Zone has strongly condemned the conduct of the Balochistan Health Secretary, declaring it unacceptable and announcing plans for a strong protest.

In a statement, the PMA Quetta said that the association is a duly registered and constitutional representative body that works for the protection of doctors’ professional rights and the welfare of patients. Any attempt to weaken, ignore, or undermine the association, it said, is unacceptable and will be resisted at all levels.

The association strongly criticized the “highly inappropriate” behavior of the Health Secretary, stating that on December 29, 2025, a PMA Quetta delegation led by Dr. Nadir Khan Achakzai held a formal meeting with the Health Secretary to discuss long-standing and serious issues affecting Balochistan’s healthcare system. However, instead of addressing these pressing concerns, the Health Secretary focused on PMA’s internal matters and sub judice court cases, which the association termed a clear attempt to weaken the representative voice of doctors.

According to the PMA, the Health Secretary’s attitude reflects a lack of seriousness in resolving real healthcare problems in the province. The association demanded the immediate removal of the Health Secretary.

PMA Quetta has appealed to higher authorities, including the Chief Minister of Balochistan, the Chief Secretary, the Quetta Corps Commander, and all relevant accountability institutions, to suspend the Health Secretary and constitute a transparent high-level inquiry committee to investigate allegations of corruption, maladministration, and targeted actions against doctors.

The association made it clear that it will not remain silent. After consultation with its general body and a formal decision, it will initiate strict and decisive legal action, holding the current health authorities fully responsible for the consequences.
